BIEAF is the initials of the Busan International Environment Art Festival. It is a cultural and artistic event that practices the global culture and arts movement for the harmony of the environment and culture, and it aims to sublimate the environmental movement on ecology, bio, climate change, and low carbon into an environmental art festival through the international network. It started at YIEAF, Yongdu International Environmental Arts Festival in Busan, Korea in July 2000, changed to BIEAF in 2002, and held the 19th BIEAF in 2021 as an international event to exchange exhibitions, performances, and academics. BIEAF2023 'CHANGE TO ECO' will be held as an online contemporary artist exhibition. The CHANGE TO ECO Contemporary Invitational Exhibition will feature 226 artists from 50 countries from September 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024. During the exhibition period, SNS communication will discuss cooperation and collaboration on the "environment and culture" with artists from each country, and on-site exhibitions will be held at six galleries in Korea. You can see the love of the environment and art, and the worries and philosophies of the future in the works of the artists who participated. Even if the language is different and the environment is different, the emotions are the same. Art is a strong message that is delivered before letters. We welcome artists from 51 countries and express our respect and appreciation. We hope that our efforts and hopes to create a bright future for mankind in the world will be conveyed to everyone who appreciates the work. Thank you.

BIEAF는 'Busan International Environment Art Festival'의 이니셜입니다. 환경과 문화의 어울림을 위하여 지구촌 문화예술운동을 실천하는 문화예술행사로 국제네크워크를 통하여 생태, 바이오, 기후변화, 저탄소에 관한 환경 운동을 환경예술축제로 승화하여 지구촌운동으로 실시하자는 뜻을 담고 있습니다. 2000년 7월 한국 부산의 용두국제환경예술제 YIEAF에서 시작, 2002년 BIEAF로 변경하였고 2021년 제19회 BIEAF를 전시, 공연, 학술 등을 교류하는 국제 행사로 개최하였습니다. BIEAF2023 'CHANGE TO ECO' 온라인 현대미술 작가전으로 개최합니다. CHANGE TO ECO 컨템포러리 초대작가전은 51개 국가 225명의 아티스트가 참여하여 2023년 9월 1일부터 2024년 1월 31일까지 전시합니다. 전시기간 동안 SNS를 통하여 아티스트와 '환경과 문화'에 대한 협력과 협업을 논의하고, 한국의 6개 갤러리에서 현장전시가 열리게 됩니다. 참여한 아티스트의 작품에서 환경과 예술에 대한 사랑, 그리고 미래에 대한 고민과 철학을 볼 수 있습니다. 언어가 다르고 환경이 달라도 감정은 같습니다. 예술은 글자보다 먼저 전달되는 강한 메세지 입니다. 참여하신 51개국가 작가 여러분을 환영하며 존경과 감사의 말씀을 전합니다. 지구촌 인류의 밝은 미래를 만들어가려는 우리의 노력과 희망이 작품을 감상하는 모든 분에게 전달되기를 기대합니다. 감사합니다.

Hello to all the artists and domestic and international staff
UEC stands for Union of Environment & Culture, and UEC's biggest event is BIEAF. Busan International Environmental Arts Festival BIEAF is an art festival for all people around the world. I welcome all of you to BIEAF and congratulate you on your brilliant exhibition.
After the pandemic, which was difficult due to COVID-19, 2023 entered a new era of change. With human-made civilization, the "Only One Star Earth" has faced the era of the greatest environmental crisis. Art, the best intellectual language for humans, is the artist's thoughts and sensibilities for such environmental changes and the future, and BIEAF is becoming a global art festival that captures their emotional language. 226 artists from more than 50 countries participated in the exhibition. The BIEAF, which is conducted purely by the private sector without any support from the state and state agencies, is not an event of one country or one organization, but a global art festival for all participants and an art movement that participants shout at the same time.
UEC's BIEAF was started in 2000 by young artists in their 30s. Now they are in their 60s. As time passed, the essence of the art movement has come this far. I am honored to be the chairman of the committee who shares the efforts and passion of artists from generation to generation, encouraging and cheering. Thank you to all the artists who participated in the 20th BEAF2023 "Change To ECO" exhibition, which will continue online and offline for six months, and I hope happiness and health will always be with you.

UEC는 환경문화연합의 약자 이며 UEC의 가장 큰 행사는 BIEAF입니다. 부산국제환경예술제 BIEAF는 세계인이 참여하는 모두의 예술축제입니다. BIEAF에 참여하신 여러분을 환영하며 함께하는 빛나는 전시를 축하드립니다.
코로나19로 힘들었던 펜데믹의 시기를 지나 2023년은 새로운 변화의 시대를 맞이 하였습니다. 인간이 만든 문명으로 '오직 하나의 별 지구'는 최대의 환경위기 시대를 맞이하였습니다. 인간 최고의 지적 언어인 예술은 이 같은 환경변화와 미래에 대한 아티스트의 생각과 감성이며, BIEAF는 이들의 감성언어를 담아내는 지구촌 미술축제로 거듭나고 있습니다. 이번 전시에 50여개 국가의 226명의 아티스트가 참여하였습니다. 국가와 국가기관의 지원이 전혀 없이 순수하게 민간의 힘으로 진행되는 BIEAF는 한 국가 또는 한 단체의 행사가 아니라 참여자 모두의 지구촌 아트 축제이며 동시에 참여자들이 외치는 미술운동입니다.  
UEC의 BIEAF는 2000년 30대의 몇몇의 젊은 예술가들에 의하여 시작되었습니다. 이제 그들은 60대가 되었습니다. 세월은 지나도 미술운동의 본질은 변함없이 여기까지 왔습니다. 세대에서 세대로 이어지는 예술가의 노력과 열정에 함께하는 위원장으로 영광으로 생각하며 격려하고 응원합니다. 6개월간 온 오프라인으로 이어지는 제20회 BIEAF2023 'Change To ECO'전시에 참여하시는 모든 아티스트들에게 감사드리며 행복과 건강이 언제나 함께하기를 기원합니다.

Nice to meet all the artists around the world. I am very happy to have an exhibition with 226 artists from 50 countries.
It is a very meaningful event that art of people around the world is gathered and displayed in one place in the name of 'environment'. As the theme "Change To ECO" means, BIEAF2023 is a festival of artists who communicate with people around the world thinking about the future of environmental change. The expression is different for painting, sculpture, craft, etc., but all participating artists' passion for art is shown.
From 2000 to today, BIEAF has tried to communicate human, art, and environmental concerns and philosophy. Now, after 23 years, more artists are participating and communicating, and it is becoming an environmental art for all around the world. The management committee and the deliberation committee at home and abroad are exchanging opinions and transforming into a more advanced BEAF.
Art has no borders, only languages. Even though the words are different, the sympathy of visual language is the same. We have been together for a long time on the theme of 'environment'. I would like to express my gratitude and honor to the domestic and international BIEAF steering committee members, staff, and artists who have worked and studied to gather at BIEAF to further develop and go far. I hope you are always happy.

It is an honor for me as Co-Chairwoman and artist to express all my gratitude and congratulations to all the artists for your participation in the great online International festival.  
It is a festival that is held with a high international cultural level.  
My greatest gratitude and congratulations to director Dr. Yousang Lee, who has put all his soul and passion, together with all of his collaborators, for his generous contribution, spreading the art of Korean and foreign artists.  
You are doing a wonderful job worthy of international admiration.  
I feel privileged that the universe has brought me to this wonderful event!  
Art has no borders, art has no religion, art has no social classes and it has no distinction of races.  
Because art is universal !!!

Welcome all the artists who participated in BEAF2023. The theme of this exhibition is "Change To ECO".
There is always a desire for change in the environment, but it is not common for artists' expressions of the environment to come together and be exhibited. The Busan International Environmental Arts Festival is an art festival about environmental art that has been going on for more than 20 years. I think it's already been 15 years since I've participated in environmental art and walked together. Over time, there was also a period of pandemic caused by COVID-19, and we had to prepare online exhibitions suitable for the digital age. BIEAF has been reborn as an art exhibition that communicates with people around the world by preparing for online exhibitions during the last COVID-19 pandemic.
226 people from 50 countries are communicating with artists from around the world with the value and content of BIEAF. Beyond borders and races, for the environment and art of the future, we have marched for a long time and will continue to walk together.
I hope that the works of various artists you submitted will become visual language and communicate with each country. I am honored to be able to display and communicate with you as co-chairman of the steering committee. Always be healthy and happy.

환경에 대한 변화의 바람은 언제나 있지만 환경에 대한 예술가의 표현이 한곳에 모여 전시로 이루어 지는 것은 흔하지 않습니다. 부산국제환경예술제는 20년 이상 이어져온 환경예술에 대한 아트 축제입니다. 제가 환경예술에 참여하고 함께 걸어온 시간도 벌써 15년이 되는것 같습니다. 시간이 흐르면서 코로나19로 인한 펜데믹의 시기도 있었고, 디지털 시대에 알맞는 온라인 전시도 준비해야했습니다. BIEAF는 지난 코로나 펜데믹 시기에 온라인 전시를 알차게 준비하여 이제 세계인과 소통하는 미술전시로 거듭나게 되었습니다.
여기에 참여하시는 50개국가 226명의 직품은 BIEAF의 가치와 내용을 담고 각국의 아티스트와 소통하고 있습니다. 국경과 인종을 넘어 미래의 환경과 예술을 위하여 우리는 오랜시간 행진하였고 앞으로도 함께 걸어갈 것입니다.

Congratulations to BIEAF Committee, Busan, South Korea on hosting the Busan International Environmental Art festival 2023. I sincerely congrats to all participating artists from South Korea and as well as from around the world. Incredibly 226 are participating artists from 50 countries and more interestig 3 art halls including 13 galleries are involved for display the wonderful art works. 
It is really to be proud of that such an international festival is taking place after the wonderful efforts made by the Director Dr. Yousang Lee who is thoroughly devoted to shaping the event well organized and successful. I would like to congratulate all the BIEAF Committee members, each and every one whose support is equally very important for this wonderful and successful event.
I am sure, this festival will make a grand impact on the South Korea 's cultural environment and the social scenario of the world too. 
Certainly, it will contribute to flourish our art and Cultural field, specially Change to Eco for better future.
